Linux/Open Source Engineer

We’re looking for experienced engineers with Linux administration experience to be part of our community engineering team. Our perfect candidate is a Linux expert and has experience with Samba and/or Active Directory. Mac experience is an added bonus. We have immediate openings on our community engineering team that is responsible for driving the technical success of Likewise Open in our growing community of customers, integrators, and partners.

Customer Maintenance Engineer Windows & Linux

Status: Full-time
Location: Bellevue, WA

Likewise is looking for a Customer Maintenance Engineer. As a Customer Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for deploying and supporting our flagship product, Likewise Enterprise, to multiple customers while providing constructive feedback to the development and engineering teams. This position provides ample opportunity for demonstrating creativity and innovation.

We have immediate openings for Customer Maintenance Engineering positions, responsibilities including, but not limited to: end-to-end handling of escalated support cases; understanding the Deployment process for Likewise Software; following the necessary steps to assess, test, pilot, deploy and remediate all components of the Likewise Enterprise solution to our customers while providing valuable feedback to the Software Development team; documentation of issues solved for customer knowledgebase. Minimum candidate requirements

  • Must hold at least BS or MS in Computer Science and Engineering.
  • Must have 3-5 years worth of systems administration or consulting experience managing large networks.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Active Directory or strong with LDAP + Kerberos.
  • Must have robust, process-based troubleshooting skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in one of the following operating systems: Windows family or Linux/Unix family.
  • Linux/Unix expertise - Should have 2+ years systems management with 2 or more of the following systems:

  •      - RPM-based Linux
         - DEB-based Linux
         - AIX
         - HP-UX
         - Solaris
         - Other Unix/Linux systems that may be added to the support matrix
         - NIS or NIS+
         - Bourne-shell, Perl or Python scripting
  • Windows expertise - Should have 5+ years experience administering or designing Microsoft Active Directory preferably including:

  •      - AD Site topology and replication
         - ADSI scripting/programming

Software Development Engineer (Multiple Openings)

Status: Full-time
Location: Bellevue, WA

We're looking for an SDE to work on the management tools for our Likewise Enterprise product. As a developer on the team, you will be responsible for maintaining existing components and developing new software as we expand our products' functionality. The position involves a lot of C#/Winforms software development on extensions to the Microsoft Management Console and on components for our own console. The ideal candidate is one who is regarded as the “UI” expert for building clean windows, dialogs, wizards, UI controls, and reporting screens that incorporate extensible programming paradigms.

Web-developers are not what we are looking for. We specifically want experience with developing compiled GUI applications to be installed on desktop systems. Your ability to build quality applications with a clean UI that can present complex representations of rich data is important for this position. You are familiar with MVC application development or similar concepts, such that porting your product to multiple platforms is possible with a well architected approach to design.

Must haves:

  • BS or advanced degree in Computer Science from an accredited university
  • 8 years of experience developing commercial software
  • Strong C, C++ and C# programming expertise
  • Experience with C#/Winforms development
  • Experience with extensible application designs and multi-platform development
  • Experience with developing reusable forms/controls, object models, and libraries
  • Experience with user experience storyboarding to improve software interaction with complex user scenarios
  • Experience with software installers, especially WIX or Installshield
  • Self-starter, creative, and highly motivated
  • Solid understanding of the entire software engineering lifecycle from product conceptualization through specification, design, development and release
  • Demonstrated ability to ship projects on time and under budget
  • Team player - we are a small company and the ability to interact well with fellow team members is crucial
  • Excellent all-round communication skills
